Created after my move to Copenhagen, Slow awakening to the longest winter in Copenhagen reflects the quiet psychological atmosphere of the city during the darker months of the year. A solitary female figure folds into the bed, suspended between sleep and wakefulness, while the view through the window hints at an outside world that feels both present and distant. Through coloured pencil and acrylic, the drawing explores memory, emotional stillness and the intimate relationship between the body and domestic space.
