Alex Pascual is a contemporary artist based in Copenhagen. Originally from Barcelona, he lived in Dublin, London and Glasgow before moving to Denmark in 2023.

Working between drawing and painting, his practice explores the relationships between the human figure, interior spaces, memory and the quiet strangeness embedded in everyday life.

Working from both observation and memory, Pascual creates images shaped by perception, recollection and emotional residue. Distortion is not used as a stylistic device, but as a reflection of how memory itself operates: unstable, fragmented and ever shifting.

Drawing on domestic interiors, everyday objects and the human figure, he constructs scenes that hover between recognition and disorientation. Perspectives compress, forms drift, and figures appear introspective, caught between presence and absence, occupying spaces to which they never seem to fully belong. Familiar interiors become transitional and psychologically uncertain: places of intimacy that can simultaneously suggest distance and estrangement.

Line is central to his process: restless, searching and at times unstable. In coloured pencil and acrylic, Pascual creates images in which warmth and unease coexist, approaching the domestic interior not simply as a place of comfort or belonging, but as an unstable psychological space where the familiar can become strangely distant.
