ABOUT ME

I’m Alex, an artist originally from Barcelona. After living in London for twelve years, I moved to Copenhagen two years ago, where I currently live and work. My practice moves between drawing and painting, focusing on the relationship between the human figure, interior spaces, and the quiet strangeness hidden within everyday life.

My work centres on moments when the familiar begins to feel slightly unsettled.

I draw from everyday environments—domestic interiors, objects, and the human figure—using them as a starting point to disrupt what feels known. Perspectives shift, spaces compress, and forms subtly distort, creating scenes that hover between recognition and disorientation.

Figures often appear introspective or withdrawn, caught in moments of pause or transition. At times, the body dissolves into its surroundings; at others, it disappears entirely, leaving behind interiors that still feel inhabited. In both cases, presence is suggested rather than fixed.

Line is central to my process—restless, searching, and at times unstable. Rough, insistent marks coexist with more fragile and attentive gestures. Through coloured pencil and acrylic, I build images that resist clarity, where warmth and unease coexist.

Rather than representing the domestic as a place of comfort, I approach it as a psychological space—one where the ordinary becomes slightly strange, and where intimacy carries an undercurrent of ambiguity and unease.
