ABOUT ME

Alex Pascual is an artist originally from Barcelona. After living in London for twelve years, he moved to Copenhagen in 2023, where he currently lives and works.

Working between drawing and painting, his practice explores the relationships among the human figure, interior spaces, memory, and the quiet strangeness embedded in everyday life.

His work focuses on moments when the familiar begins to feel subtly unsettled. Working from both observation and memory allows him to move beyond direct representation and construct images shaped by perception, recollection, and emotional residue. Distortion is not approached as a stylistic device, but as a reflection of the way memory itself operates — unstable, fragmented, and shifting.

Drawing from domestic interiors, objects, and the human figure, he creates scenes that hover between recognition and disorientation. Perspectives compress, forms subtly drift, and figures often appear isolated or introspective, suspended within fragile, dreamlike narratives where very little seems to happen, yet an underlying tension quietly persists.

Line is central to his process: restless, searching, and at times unstable. Through coloured pencil and acrylic, Alex constructs images in which warmth and unease coexist, approaching the domestic not as a place of comfort but as a psychological space where the ordinary becomes quietly strange.
