Chairs Around the Table explores the familiar setting of a dining table through an energetic arrangement of mismatched chairs, overlapping lines and strong blocks of colour. Rather than describing the room through conventional perspective, the drawing lets furniture and objects tilt, collide, and overlap. The domestic interior becomes less a precise representation of a place and more a record of how a familiar space is experienced and remembered. The contrast between the white tabletop, brightly coloured chairs and loosely drawn objects gives the work a spontaneous, intimate character.
