Not Leaving Yet began as a life drawing, developed during an initial session working directly from the model. Back in the studio, I continued the drawing from memory, allowing the figure, furniture and surrounding space to shift away from direct observation. The oversized chair gradually became a barrier between the figure and the viewer, creating a sense of hesitation, distance and emotional uncertainty.
